medQ Installs New Teleradiology System at RCM

Plano Texas-- medQ, Inc,  a leading provider of EHR driven radiology workflow solutions has installed their state of the art, customer interactive teleradiology solution at Radiology Consultants of the Midwest (RCM).  RCM is a leading radiology group based in Omaha, Nebraska with multiple clients throughout the state; including hospitals and outpatient imaging centers.

With their business growing at a fast pace and their referring physicians having rising service expectations; RCM knew they had to do something.  To solve these immediate issues and prepare for their future growth, RCM installed medQ's Q/ris Reading Services Solution (RSS) fully integrated with the Reporting PLUS+ voice recognition driven reporting software. This was installed with Aycan MedicalSystems as part of a fully integrated RIS/PACS imaging solution.

The Q/ris RSS automatically processes all images sent to RCM, automatically generating new orders then matching these to the PACS images to create a single, integrated worklist for the radiologist.  Using the Reporting PLUS+ dictation program, the RCM radiologists can create, sign and distribute reports in minutes rather than hours or days. The Q/ris distributed, flexible architecture allow anyone in the group to access the system at any time, from any location.

This RSS solution also supports improved bidirectional communications between RCM and their sending sites through the deployment of their unique site admin/QC app.  This app is deployed on site and provides the sending site the capability to edit/modify the order, add documents via scanning or direct eDocument import, and converts these documents to DICOM and stores them with the image.  This process ensures data is immediately available to the radiologist to improve the quality and integrity of the data for the radiologists, which can have a direct impact on patient safety.  Radiologists can also return the exam to the site for further work for those studies which are not complete, or may be missing data.  All this is done electronically.  Once the report is finalized, and automatically distributed via email or fax, all patient history is stored not only at RCM but real time available to the sending site as well.

"The ability of the Q/ris RSS to bring in studies from multiple locations and integrate them into a single worklist has significantly improved our productivity.  Coupled with the
Q/ris Reporting PLUS+ solution our report creation is quick, easy and accurate, with significantly improved turnaround times."  Said, Dr. Erik Pederson, M.D., Neuroradiologist and Chief Information Officer for the group.
